Smudgy Experiment

A little bit of background into today’s blog post – I am a huge fan of Kristen Stewart. She is one of the most fearless, versatile and interesting actresses out there. Her list of acting roles shows that. The Messenger – a horror flick before The Conjuring came out. Zathura – a family and adventure movie that features a very young and cute Josh Hutcherson and Dax Shepard. Clouds of Sils Maria – a film that explores the acting industry through an aging actress, a personal assistant and a troubled young actress. She picks projects that resonate, rather than give her a bigger pay cheque – Twilight doesn’t count since it was a sleeper hit slash phenomenon no one could have foreseen.

Last year, she participated in an interview with Into The Gloss. She mentioned several things that I truly enjoyed finding out about her.
Her favourite eye pencil:

‘There’s a pencil that you can get at Topshop that’s cheap, so I’ll get, like, five of them, and they last forever and they’re really, really good. I do both the top and bottom line and then just smudge it with my finger.’
Her usual eye makeup routine:
I still really don’t know how to do my own makeup. I do the same thing every day, if I do my own: mascara and black eyeliner.
And what inspired this post:
If I’m being responsible, I’ll wash my face, but I never take off my eyeliner or my mascara because it looks so good the next day. It’s a continuous thing; I think I’ve never really had clean eyes.
Unlike Kristen, I wear more than just eyeliner and mascara – although I do see the benefit of it. For me colours are my jam. Purple lipstick? No probs. Black lipstick – have you checked my Instagram? I spent several weeks decked out in red, purple, blue and green smokey eyes. But I absolutely am a monster when it comes to removing eye makeup. Makeup artistes – heck – even your mother and grandmother probably tells you to remove your eye makeup carefully so you don’t pull the delicate area around your skin and cause it to sag prematurely.  I like to really scrub my eye makeup off, especially when I wear waterproof mascara and eyeliner between my lashes. Boy do they make me work for it! It doesn’t help even if I use makeup removers for waterproof makeup.
In any case, smudgy liner is also in vogue at the moment. I’m not into leaving my mascara on coz I have done it before and it snapped some of my Asian Chinese lashes into half. Insert sad face. I opted out of removing my eyeliner tonight, and to document it.
Crater Face:)
As you can see the eyeliner has already meandered into my lower lashline – a common occurrence. Let me sleep on it and report tomorrow:)
